This book is designed to serve as a textbook for an introductory course in physics for the first year B.E. students of Viswesvaraya University of Technology, Karnataka. The book is written with the singular objective of providing the students of VTU with a distinct source material as per the syllabus. It is intended to provide an extensive solid foundation in Physics. Physics is a science of measurement, an exact science and a pure science which encompasses esoteric ideas. It is well known that Engineering is regarded as Applied Science.
